ONYX
BRASS News
Hot off the press..........
Soon to be launched is our brand new venture ONYX BRASS
PUBLISHING. A special concert to launch this exciting
new venture will be held on June 6th in St. Brides
Church, Fleet Street.
On the 28th
November, 2007, Onyx Brass joined Her Majesty the Queen,
The Duke of Edinburgh, and the choir and congregation of
St Brides Church, Fleet Street for a rededication of the
church. After being
bombed in the Blitz the church was rebuilt and
dedicated in 1947, The Queen was also in attendance on
that dedication. At yesterday's rededication, Onyx fanfared her in to the church
and then played her out to an arrangement of Gigout's
"Grand
Choer Dialogue" for brass and organ.

Onyx
were one of the first
chamber groups to play in the newly refurbished St Georges,
Liverpool venue. The concert was recorded by BBC
Radio 3 and will feature music from English and American
composers from about 50 years ago (give or take!).
There were one or two solo pieces and some specially
commissioned arrangements too. The concert took place on
Friday, November the 2nd.

South
East Music Scheme
After a successful audition, Onyx
were appointed Artists
to South East Music Schemes 2007 – 2009. They follow in the footsteps of many prestigious groups and
soloists including London Brass a few years ago. This enables the group to offer special rates to music clubs,
festivals, choirs and schools based in the South East of
England. www.semusic.co.uk

Onyx Brass made the
front cover of Brass Band World, March 2007.
"the players
distinctive sound -- an eclectic blend of American polish,
Russian emotionalism and English smoothness -- as well as
their technical acumen, enabled Onyx to pick up
engagements at International festivals .."
